For some years, for reasons not relevant, I have heard about,  "Sergeant Charles Floyd a Kentucky back woodsman and one of the most competent men of the (Lewis and Clark) party  (who) died on August 20th 1804 and was buried on a high bluff." A river was named after him and later a monument built  -- and -- I had a travelers desire to see the monument which is at Sioux City, Iowa.

So upon leaving Britt Sunday morning I was able to dodge the thunder boomers by avoiding the hypotenuse (short way) and "boxing the corners" of a couple of storms - occasionally riding thorough light sprinkles, on wet roads after the storms had just passed - dark threatening skies and lightening to the left (east) and clearing skies to the south and west, the directions of travel.

Success, the monument found, pictures taken, both pictures of the monument and the compass points view from the monument.

Mission accomplished, left big city traffic and traffic noises for the peacefulness of the tranquil countryside to find a place to rest my weary head.
