The trip across NY was interesting in that I passed
a state/sheriff patrols, sitting roadside about
every 10 miles (around 20+ patrols) and at least 2/3
were writing tickets. Carefully obeying the speed
limit I couldn't help but wonder if there was a
relationship with the NY state deficit I had
recently read about - and so it goes.
Check in to
Watson Homestead, which was place to rest weary head
until Friday mid Sunday afternoon.
Meet people, hike grounds go for a swim.
Subsequently we toured the Corning Museum of Glass,
made hand cranked ice cream, sat by the fire and
ate.
Classmates included
several artists, some social workers, psychiatric
and others, teachers, nurses, physician, a 70+ year
mature husband and wife scuba "recovery" team,
a green haired strength trainer, chief
financial officer and a Gilbert and Sullivan fan
who/whom is translating all their works into
Yiddish, Pirates of Penzance, being his latest.
We were divided
into three groups, seven and after
breakfast spent Monday through Thursday rotating
between the Flame, Kiln and Hot Shops. A lunch break
was provided and after our last rotation of the day
we had time to tour the Museum, Corning, swim or
whatever before dinner. Socialization and video
programs on glass work after dinner.
Museum ------
Too many things to record so just took pictures of
some of the items that seemed to have special
meanings for me, e.g. I be a big fan of Emmet Kelly,
hamburgers, snails, etc.
