As the reader is
likely to know, there are some who are of strong
mind, but possess a weak body, while others may be
physically strong but have limited cognitive
resources.
Such an individual
may be a child, a spouse, an aging relative or even
a stranger in a nursing home.
Characteristics may
range from cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis,
stroke, traumatic brain injury, autism, or other
developmental disability or simply a grandmother
celebrating her 98th birthday.
Many, if not most,
enjoy the stimulation of getting out and about,
visiting new places, seeing new things, movement,
motion and the wind in their hair – but as the
reader may be well aware , finding safe,
appropriate and yet stimulating activities may be difficult.
One, almost
universally overlooked and by no means for all,
activity that I have repeatedly observed and taken
part in is that of motorcycle sidecar traveling, be it
around the block or across the country.
Ahh, the smiles from
new experiences, sights, movements and smells such an
outing brings to the face of both passenger and
driver
QUITE REWARDING!!!
As a “professional" one could discuss neurocognitive, vestibular and
kinesthetic stimulation, a new bonding activity,
etc. – as a sidecarist one simply says that for some
people, who may tend to be "shut in" by their
individual characteristics, traveling by sidecar rig can be an
incredibly enriching experience.
This is why, on an
otherwise staid professional site, there was the
link to this page.
For those in the
Northwestern Wisconsin area who may wish to explore
this adventure further may I recommend this link for
further information – just write and ask for
opinions and personal experiences:

if wishing for
information about the possibility of acquiring a
rig, with any needed modifications, for individuals
with special characteristics,
Kevin of Scrambler Cycle is highly recommended:
