HISTORY: I BOUGHT THE BIKE IN 2000 WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 13,500 MILES ON IT AND HAVE PUT ABOUT 23, 000 MILES ON IT SINCE. THE CURRENT ODOMETER READING IS 36,465.  THE BIKE HAS PROVEN ITSELF BOTH RELIABLE AND COMFORTABLE FOR ME AT 6’0’’ RANGING IN WEIGHT FROM A HIGH OF 268 TO A CURRENT 225, (APPLAUSE WELCOMED!).   ;-)  OUR TRAVELS HAVE BEEN TO STURGIS, AROUND LAKE SUPERIOR AS WELL AS HITHER, THITHER AND YON, WITH NO PROBLEMS. AT LEAST NONE OTHER THAN THE TIME I RAN OVER A NAIL IN THE YARD.

 

THE FIRST FALL THAT I HAD THE BIKE, SOME TURKEY TAPPED MY HINDER AT A STOP SIGN, THE BIKE FELL OVER AND SUFFERED SOME COSMETIC DAMAGE. I SUFFERED NARY A BRUISE, BUT THE BIKE ACQUIRED A NEW GAS TANK, REAR FENDER,  TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AND HIWAY BARS. THERE WAS NO FRAME OR MECHANICAL DAMAGE AND I PUT ON 20,000+ MILES AFTER THAT FALL.  (PUN INTENDED.)

 

CONDITION: I POSSESS A SEVERE ALLERGY TO PAIN AND INTENSELY DISLIKE THE SIGHT OF (MY OWN) BLOOD, THUS HAVE KEPT THE BIKE WELL MAINTAINED AND IN  GOOD  CONDITION. IT COMES TO YOU WITH LESS THAN 5 MILES ON NEW FORK SEALS, LESS THAN 500 MILES ON THE TIRES, IN FACT THE REAR STILL SHOWS PRODUCTION MARKINGS AND A LESS THAN 2 YEAR OLD BATTERY FOR AN 1100 VIRAGO.  I MODIFIED THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT TO HOLD THE LARGER BATTERY SO AS TO PROVIDE MORE POWER/RESERVE. THERE TIS ALSO SILVER (MATCHES THE FORKS) HIWAY SIGN REFLECTIVE TAPE ON THE LOWER FRONT FORKS FOR ADDITIONAL VISIBILITY AT NIGHT AND THE SIDE COVERS HAVE SAFETY WIRES TO PREVENT LOSS IF THEY COME LOOSE.

 

THE BIKE TIS LISTED AS TEAL GREEN IN COLOR BUT NOT MENTIONED IS THAT IT IS “TEAL GREEN WITH SPARKLIES". THE SPARKLIES WOULD, I IMAGINE, IMMEDIATELY DISQUALIFY ONE FROM MEMBERSHIP IN THE “WILD BUNCH”.

 

THERE ARE, OF COURSE SOME MINOR SCRATCHES AND PAINT CHIPS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS 4 SMALL HOLES DRILLED WHERE I HAD ATTACHED A RISER WHEN I WAS EXPERIMENTING WITH FLOORBOARDS. THE EXHAUST HAS SOME BLUING. THERE ARE NO FABRIC TEARS, PLASTIC CRACKS, DENTS, GOUGES OR SCRAPES. IN MY HUMBLE OPINION IT IS IN MUCH BETTER SHAPE THAN MOST OTHER 95 BIKES.

 

GOODIES: A NATIONAL CYCLE DEFLECTOR SCREEN, ALL AMERICAN RIDER SADDLE BAGS, CHROME SADDLE BAG SUPPORTS AND HIWAY BARS WITH HIWAY PEGS AND A TUNEABLE SUPERTRAPP EXHAUST SYSTEM.

 

EXTRAS: YOU GET 4 EXTRA FORK SEALS WHICH WON’T BE NEEDED FOR AWHILE GIVEN THE NEW ONES AND AN EXTRA HEADLIGHT BULB WHICH I KEPT AS A SPARE FOR WHEN CAMPING IN THE BOONIES. ALSO,  FOR YOUR INSTALLATION PLEASURES YOU GET A SET OF PROGRESSIVE FORK SPRINGS AND A K&N CARBURETOR RE-CALIBRATION KIT # 819120. I NEVER GOT AROUND TO INSTALLING EITHER AS THE BIKE PERFORMED QUITE WELL WITHOUT THE ADDITIONAL FIDDLING.
